DMCA and copyright policy
How to tell us that something on this site infringes your copyright, what a valid notice needs to contain, and how we respond. Notices are read by a person, not a queue.
Our position on copyright
Evez publishes original editorial guides about how Snapchat works. We write our own text, build our own tables and figures, and cite our sources by name and link. We respect other people’s intellectual property and we expect the same in return.
Because our guides describe a third-party product, they necessarily refer to it: we name Snapchat features, describe interface elements, and quote short passages from Snapchat’s own support documentation and from public filings where accuracy demands it. We treat that as nominative and fair use, kept to what is needed to make a point and always attributed. If you think we have overstepped, this page tells you how to say so.
Before you file a formal notice
You are very welcome to email contact@evez.online first and simply describe the problem. Most concerns are resolved this way within a day or two, without anyone needing to file anything. A formal notice is available to you, but it is not required to get our attention.
Filing a copyright (DMCA) notice
If you believe material on this Site infringes a copyright you own or represent, send a written notice to our designated contact below. To be effective under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), your notice must include substantially all of the following:
- Your signature. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorised to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the work. A description of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed. If several works are involved, a representative list is enough.
- Identification of the material. A description of what you say is infringing, with enough information for us to find it. In practice, please give the exact URL or URLs.
- Your contact details. Enough for us to reach you: name, email address, and where appropriate a postal address and telephone number.
- A good-faith statement. That you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement of accuracy, under penalty of perjury. That the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for them.
Send it to contact@evez.online with “DMCA Notice” in the subject line.
Misrepresentation carries a real penalty
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. Please consider whether the use might be permitted, for example as fair use, fair dealing, or because the material is factual rather than expressive, before filing.
What we do when we receive a valid notice
On receiving a notice that substantially complies with the requirements above, we act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the material identified. We keep a record of notices received.
Because everything on this Site is published by us rather than uploaded by users, in practice we review the claim ourselves. Where there is legitimate doubt we take the material down first and work the question out afterwards. We will tell you what we did.
Counter-notice
If material was removed and you believe that happened through mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice. To be effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3) it must include substantially the following:
- Your signature, physical or electronic.
- Identification of the removed material and the location at which it appeared before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number.
- A consent-to-jurisdiction statement: that you consent to the jurisdiction of the US Federal District Court for the judicial district of your address, or if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice or their agent.
Send counter-notices to the same address. Where the DMCA safe-harbour process applies, we may restore the material no sooner than 10 and no later than 14 business days after receipt, unless we first receive notice that the original complainant has filed a court action.
Repeat infringers
In accordance with 17 U.S.C. § 512(i), we have adopted a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the access of anyone found to be a repeat infringer, and we may remove material and restrict access at our discretion.
If someone has copied our guides
The reverse case is more common. Our guides are original work and are regularly scraped and republished without attribution. If you have seen Evez content on another site, we would like to know: email contact@evez.online with the URL. You are also welcome to quote us properly, with a short extract, clear attribution, and a link back to the page.
Trademarks and other concerns
This page deals with copyright. “Snapchat,” “Snap,” the Ghost logo and related marks belong to Snap Inc., and we use them only to identify and describe the product our guides are about. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Snap Inc., as set out in our terms of service.
For a trademark, privacy, defamation, or other non-copyright concern, email the same address and describe the issue. We would rather hear about it directly than read about it later.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here and the date at the top of the page updated.
