Camera and video
Recording without holding the button, video length limits, editing and trimming, slow motion, and sending video from your camera roll.
Almost every complaint about Snapchat's camera comes down to two things: the record button wants your thumb held down, and the app puts a hard ceiling on how long a single snap can be. Both have workarounds, and neither is documented anywhere obvious inside the app.
These pages cover the mechanics — recording, trimming, speed, importing from the gallery, and what happens to quality when you send. Where a method depends on your phone rather than on Snapchat, that is called out explicitly, because the iOS and Android paths genuinely differ.

Common questions about camera and video
Why does my video snap look worse than the original?
Snapchat re-encodes everything it sends to keep transfer sizes small. Importing an already-compressed file compounds it, because the file gets encoded twice.
Can I record a snap longer than 60 seconds?
Not as a single snap. Recording past the limit produces multiple segments that send as a sequence, and each recipient taps through them.
Does the other person know I imported from my camera roll?
Usually yes. Imported media carries a visual marker that distinguishes it from something shot live in the app.
